Love bids us welcome
1662 Choral Evensong
Sunday 11 May, 16.00
Share in this much-loved service from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, made musical, and be carried towards the end of the day on the flow of words and song.
Our worship this evening was formed by combining the monastic offices of Vespers and Compline to make one of the two daily services of the Church of England.
Evening Prayer can be said, but is often sung when there is a choir capable of offering the worship on behalf of the congregation. Sometimes we lift up our hearts. Sometimes they are lifted for us and set within the ongoing prayer and praise of the church.
That worship is offered with gratitude to God for the wonderful capacity we frail creatures of dust possess to sing God's praise on behalf of all creation.
Our thanks in particular are to and for Christine Morgan and the church choir, who will lead us.
