Love bids us welcome
Confirmation 2026
Saturday 31 January/ Sunday 01 February
At the start of next year we welcome Bishop Andrew Norman, the Suffragan Bishop of our Diocese in Europe, to join us here for a Service of Confirmation.
If you would like to be Confirmed - or know someone else who would - do get in touch by Sunday 21 September.
You can do this using the contact form below.
Then we’ll put together some preparation, to get people ready, and let you know what this will involve.
Confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms the promises that were made when they were baptized. If you were baptized at a christening when you were a child, your parents and godparents made these promises on your behalf.
As a young person or adult, you may be ready to affirm these promises for yourself and commit your life to following Jesus Christ. At a confirmation service, you make these promises for yourself.
Your friends and family as well as the local Christian community will be there to promise to support and pray for you.
A bishop will lay their hands on your head and ask God’s Holy Spirit to give you the strength and commitment to live God’s way for the rest of your life.
To be confirmed here you’ll need to be active in the life and worship of this church between now and the day of Confirmation, and take a full part in the preparatory sessions.
To find out more, contact Nick Howe the Chaplain, or go to the Church of England website here, where you’ll find a list of FAQs - and answers.
